Courses of Study
At the Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies (CNMS) in Marburg, a broad spectrum of possible courses of study is available for beginners and advanced students alike. The following courses of study are currently offered:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Oriental Studies with the
following major subjects: Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Arabic Studies,
Iranian Studies, Islamic Studies, Middle Eastern Politics, Middle
Eastern Economics, Semitic Studies.
Several advanced Master of Arts (MA) programs are
offered:
- Ancient Orient and Egypt
- Arabic Literature and Culture
- Iranian Studies
- Semitic Studies
Several additional MA programs are currently being developed. With the
BA degree in Oriental Studies, admission to MA programs in other
subject areas is possible.
Moreover, the CNMS participates in several majors in other BA
programs:
- Historical Linguistic, Text and Cultural Studies (HSTK)
- Archaeological Studies
Students of other subjects can take advantage of language courses on
offer (above all Arabic, Persian and Turkish). They may also attend a
variety of courses – especially those of general interest – which can
be credited as imported modules.
