The Philipps-University of Marburg
Founded in 1527, the Philipps-University of Marburg is one of the most historic German universities as it is the oldest remaining Protestant university in Germany. The Philipps-University is a mid-sized university in which 17.975 German students alongside 2.044 foreign students from more than 80 countries are currently enrolled (statistics based on winter term 2001/2002). More than half of the students are female. Marburg itself has a population of approx. 77.000 residents, and with a significant 19.000 of those being students it is clear to see that this city not just has a university but the city is a university. Marburg lies in the middle of Hesse (a federal state of Germany). Frankfurt (am Main) can be reached by train within one hour.

Why Business Administration & Economics in Marburg?
Today, business is a central part of our lives. Major trends like globalisation, mergers & acquisitions or interjurisdictional competition influence modern societies. Those who want to understand complex processes within firms and economies, those who are eager to analyse market transactions and to achieve entrepreneurial skills should study Business Administration or Economics. Whereas the latter concentrates on the working of economies as a whole, Business Administration focuses on the production and selling of goods and services within firms.
The
Department of Business Administration & Economics at the University
of Marburg provides excellent conditions: the teachers’ outstanding
commitment to their students, an exceptionally good student-teacher
ratio, and last but not least the available computer equipment
contribute to an ideal learning environment. Despite the increasing
numbers of students the Department of Business Administration &
Economics is still of a manageable size. In 2005, 946 students were
registered for Business Administration and 370 students for Economics.
It is an environment not only for imparting knowledge, but one to
discover a variety of modern research fields in Business Administration
& Economics.
