Short Bio (complete CV)

Career: Chair for Comparative Politics and International Development Studies at Philipps University of Marburg since March 2010. Chair for Political Science at University of Hildesheim 2007-2010. Previously Assistant professor at the University Duisburg-Essen.

Studies and qualifications: Japanology, Arabic and Social Sciences at the Universities of Bonn, Tokyo and Cairo. Translator (Diploma) for Japanese and Arabic. Worked as science journalist throughout her studies. PhD at the Free University Berlin, afterwards research fellow at the Universities of Potsdam and Duisburg. In Duisburg interim Professor for East-Asian Politics from 1996-1998. Habilitation at the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2004; Venia legendi in Comparative and International Politics.

Research: Acquisition, handling and direction of third-party funded research projects. Focal points are the politics of the Near and Middle East, East and South East Asia as well as political Islam and Gender Studies.

Distinctions: Inclusion in an online portal for distinguished female scientists in German-speaking countries (2010; nominated by DFG). Link.
