Political Participation in the USA (IUSP)

Tuesday 12 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Lecturer: Thomas Schübel

Description:

Participation in the political process belongs to the central rights of citizens in democracies. In the framework of this seminar we will have the opportunity to have a closer look at the structures and determinants of political participation in the USA. In the beginning we will discuss important institutional and socio-cultural basics. The most popular form of participation is voting in elections, for which reason we will especially examine the local voting behaviour at length, as well as the party system resulting from this.
