Christian Kästner has been awarded the 2010 dissertation award of the Gesellschaft für Informatik for his dissertation entitled "Virtual Separation of Concerns: Toward Preprocessors 2.0".

Our paper "SugarJ: Library-based Syntactic Language Extensibility" by S. Erdweg, T. Rendel, C. Kästner, and K. Ostermann has been selected for the Distinguished Paper Award at OOPSLA 2011.

News Best Research Paper Award at SPLC'11
Our paper "Scalable Prediction of Non-functional Properties in Software Product Lines" received the Best Research Paper Award at the International Software Product Line Conference 2011. Christian Kästner and Paolo G. Giarrusso from our group were coauthors on that paper.

News GPCE 2012 organized by our group
The conference on Generative Programming and Component Engineering (GPCE) will be organized by our group in 2012. Klaus Ostermann will be the general chair, and the conference will take place in Dresden (colocated with SLE 2012).
News Two papers accepted at SPLASH/OOPSLA 2011
Our papers "SugarJ: Library-based Syntactic Language Extensibility" and "Variability-Aware Parsing in the Presence of Lexical Macros and Conditional Compilation" have been accepted at the OOPSLA 2011 research paper track. News Two papers accepted for SPLC'11
We are glad to announce that both papers submitted to the Software Product Line Conference 2011 in Munich have been accepted.
News Success of intensive software project laboratory
This year we allowed students to attend the software project laboratory (Software-Praktikum) as an intensive lab during the semester break. This lab finished last week, and it proved a good learning experience for students. All participating students completed the course successfully, by implementing a working computer version of the "Ingenious" board game. The course is also offered, as in previous years, during the semester.

The papers "Modular Domain-Specific Language Components in Scala" by Christian Hofer and Klaus Ostermann and "Code Clones in Feature-Oriented Software Product Lines" by Sandro Schulze, Sven Apel, and Christian Kästner have been accepted for this year's International Conference on Generative Programming and Component Engineering (GPCE) in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

The paper "Predicting Performance via Automated Feature-Interaction Detection" was accepted at the International Conference on Software Engineering 2012. Authors were Norbert Siegmund, Sergiy S. Kolesnikov, Christian Kästner, Sven Apel, Don Batory, Marko Rosenmüller, and Gunter Saake.
News Paper accepted at ICPC
We are glad to announce that the paper "Measuring Programming Experience" by Janet Feigenspan, Christian Kästner, Jörg Liebig, Sven Apel, and Stefan Hanenberg was accepted for the International Conference on Program Comprehension. The paper contains the results of a controlled experiment that we conducted in part in Marburg in the software engineering lecture.

News Paper accepted at OOPSLA'12
We are glad to announce that the paper "A Variability-Aware Module System" by Christian Kästner, Klaus Ostermann and Sebastian Erdweg was accepted at the 27th ACM SIGPLAN Conference on Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages and Applications (OOPSLA), part of SPLASH 2012. The paper describes a module system for modules with inner variability (instead of necessarily decomposing the system corresponding to variability) and an application to C (in which we type check the entire implementation of Busybox with all its variability).
