News: We just got a grant from ERA-IB/BMBF for a project in synthetic biology. We want to develop a genetic platform technology to optimize the concerted activities of hydrolytic enzymes for biomass processing applications using a novel method of accelerated combinatorial gene assembly from a library of genes in standardised modular format. My group will supported this approach by advanced computational modeling (see also  here). 

In this context there is an opening for a Ph.D. student. Prerequisites are good programing skills, research experience in theoretical physics and a master in theoretical physics (or a related area). Basic knowledge of bacterial metabolism and/or computational physics are advantageous. Applications can be sent to me via email.
