Animal Ecology
Prof. Dr. Roland Brandl
At present, we focus on three major disciplines of ecology: population genetics, plant-animal interactions and macroecology. In our approach we are using model organisms such like legumes, ants, birds and mammals to answer questions on local, regional as well as on global scales.
Scientific focus
- Structure and dynamics of species distributions (macroecology)
- Structure and diversity of communities: local and regional processes
- Interactions and consequences of alien species in native communities
- Population genetics of aquatic organisms
- Biology of termites
