Schachtner Lab - Dipl.-Biol. Martin Kollmann

triboliumcollembole stickinsect caligo In my research, I am focusing on the olfactory system of the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. This includes the olfactory receptor neurons (ORs) and the olfactory binding proteins (OBPs) of the antennae and the glomeruli of the antennal lobes. Moreover I analyze the development and plasticity of the Tribolium brain.
Additionally I am interested in brain neuroanatomy and neurochemistry of different hexapod taxa in an evolutionary context. I have analyzed the brains of Collembola (springtails), but also the brains of various butterflies, stick insects, praying mantises, beetles and aphids.
