How to get to Marburg

Travel Instructions
Marburg is a middle-sized city in northern Hesse, approximately 100 km
north of Frankfurt/Main. It is easy to be reached both by train and car.

To reach Marburg by car:

From Hamburg/Hannover on A7: At the junction “Kassel-Ost” switch to A 49 in direction of Bad Wildungen and Marburg. At the end of the motorway, continue on road B 3 to Marburg.

From Leipzig/Erfurt on A4: At the junction “Kirchheimer Dreieck” switch to A 7 in direction of Würzburg. Two exits later, at “Hattenbacher Dreieck” switch to A 5 to Gießen. Leave the motorway at exit “Alsfeld” and take road B 62 to Marburg.

From Düsseldorf/Köln on A3: At the junction “Kreuz Köln-Ost” switch to A 4 motorway to Olpe. At the junction “Kreuz Olpe-Süd” switch to A 45 to “Siegen/Frankfurt”. At the junction “Kreuz Wetzlar-Ost” leave the motorway and continue on road B 49 in direction of Gießen. From “Gießener Ring” on, Marburg is indicated on the signs taking you onto road B 3.

From Frankfurt on A5: At the junction “Gambacher Kreuz” switch to A 45 to Gießen/Marburg. At the junction "Südkreuz Giessen" switch to A 485 to Marburg which automatically takes you to B 3.

To reach Marburg by train:

InterCity trains from Hamburg and Karlsruhe stop in Marburg every two
hours. Trains to Frankfurt, Kassel, Gießen go at least once an hour. For online timetables and train connections, visit www.bahn.de.


To reach Marburg by air:

The closest airport is Frankfurt/Main International Airport, which also has a good train connection to Marburg (1 hour). Other airports, especially for charter flights, are Cologne and Frankfurt/Hahn.
