Prof. Dr. Angela Krewani: Hollywood
-
2009 Fall Term, Monday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., lecture, held in German
Aims and Content:
For a long time the system "Hollywood" was the world's largest
producer of films. However, it is not only known for its
domination of the international movie markets, but also for the
introduction of visual norms. In the lecture, the development of
Hollywood towards a global film style will be presented systematically
and historically. Based on the relocating of the major
studios to the American west coast the lecture will follow the
differentiation of the studio system with its star and genre system,
the development of the respective movie genres as well as the
transformations of Hollywood, caused by television and the destruction
of the studio system. The presentations will end with an overview of
contemporary Hollywood.
