Required German language proficiency and German language courses
You wish to enrol for specialised studies with one of the following final qualifications:
- Bachelor
- Master
- Diplom
- Magister
- State Examination, Church Examination
- post graduate diploma
In this case you need to have passed the “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang“ (DSH). Those who wish to study at Marburg University can take this examination before the start of the semester.
You wish to study at Marburg on a programme that does not include a final qualification, or you wish to do a doctorate:
As a rule this does not require the DSH.
Your command of German is already very good, but you have not passed the DSH? In this case please check whether you belong to any of the groups listed below. The following persons are exempt from the DSH:
-
applicants who have obtained their Entrance Requirement for Higher Education (Hochschulreife) in a German-speaking country
-
holders of a German Abitur certificate
-
holders of a leaving certificate of a Studienkolleg für ausländische Studienbewerber (Feststellungsprüfung)
-
holders of the “Deutsches Sprachdiplom“ (C1) issued by the Conference of Ministers for the Arts and Culture (Kultusministerkonferenz)
-
persons who have successfully passed the “Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung“ (ZOP) of the Goethe Institute
