Economics and Institutions (M.Sc.)
Description
The Master’s Programme in Economics and Institutions is designed to provide students with a comprehensive training for a career as a professional economist in government or business and a solid basis for an academic career.
The course offers specific training in the economic analysis of institutions, i.e., the study of formal and informal rules that are backed by sanctions, as well as courses in all core fields of economic theory and policy. Due to this unique combination, graduates from this programme will be well equipped to tackle many practical problems. The programme addresses the job requirements of many economists working in applied fields. Therefore, scientific writing and presentation skills pertaining to real world applications are trained in seminars that constitute a major part of the course. In addition, jobs for professional economists typically require a solid training in research methods. Reflecting this demand, the course also offers a broad menu of analytical tools, ranging from game theory to empirical methods.
Applications must have reached Philipps-Universität Marburg by July 15th for a winter semester, by January 15th for a summer semester.
Applications coming in later may be taken into consideration, if
there are openings left and the organization of the admission procedure
allows for it. Conditions of application may be different for
applicants with foreign qualifications. For further information cf.
below.
The M.Sc. is accredited.
