Research

The department of the History of the Early Modern Period is a vibrant research institute with numerous ongoing large and small research projects. The foci of research activity are the reformation, constitutional history of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation since the reform of the Empire, the Thirty Year’s war and the Westphalian Peace, the European state system in the early modern period and the development of the people’s rights, the English revolutions of the 17th century, political norms and their dissemination and historical migration procedures and denominational minorities. Prof. Kampmann is also active as the editor of the “Encyclopaedia of the Modern Era”
