PhD Program "Data Science: Mathematical Analysis, Scalable Algorithms, and Systems"

The overall research goal of the PhD program is the development of innovative methods for data analysis. The program is based on the conviction that cooperation across disciplinary boundaries, in particular between mathematics and computer science, is necessary to meet the contemporary challenges in the field of data science.  Thus, in addition to strengthening the expertise of the doctoral students, the program aims at initiating an intensive exchange and collaborative projects between its members.

Topics include

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: Methods, Implementations, Mathematical Analysis and Applications in the Life Sciences
  • Uncertainty Quantification
  • Natural Language Processing and Speech Recognition
  • Big Data Analytics, Distributed Systems and Databases
  • Algebraic, Geometric, Combinatorial Methods and Complexity Theory
