Join us at the German Conference of Women in Physics 2026!

Mehr für Physikstudentinnen is organizing a group trip to the Deutsche Physikerinnentagung (German Conference of Women in Physics), 28–30 September 2026 in Kaiserslautern — and we'd love for you to join us. We're planning to travel there together on 27 September.

Why come with us?

German Physikerinnentagung offers scientific sessions, panel discussions, soft-skill workshops, networking events, and industry insights.

Whether you're a Bachelor's, Master's, or Lehramt student, a PhD candidate, or a postdoc — this conference is worth your time. It's a chance to meet physicists at every career stage, in a space specifically built around supporting women in physics. If you've never been to a conference before, this is a genuinely good place to start: the atmosphere is supportive, the talks span the whole range of physics from particle physics to cosmology, and you'll be surrounded by others for whom it's also a first. Travelling as a group also means you won't be navigating a new city and a new conference alone.

The German Conference of Women in Physics (Deutsche Physikerinnentagung) offers scientific sessions, panel discussions, soft-skill workshops (Science Communication for Physicists, Starke Frauen - Selbstbewusstes Auftreten, Career Development for Early-Career Physicists: Exploring Options in Research and Innovation and Scientific Writing), networking events, and industry insights (d-fine, Infineon / NKT Photonics / Menlo Systems, Forschungszentrum Jülich).

Travel & logistics

We'll travel together using local public transport (Nahverkehr), so everyone can use their Semesterticket — no need to organize your own way there. We'll stay together in a hotel, in twin rooms, with breakfast included, from 27 to 30 September, and head home together on 30 September. If you'd like to stay longer on your own, that's absolutely fine too. On Sunday evening we'll go out for dinner together as a group, and on Tuesday evening there's the official conference dinner.

Poster Contribution

If you are a graduate student, a PhD candidate or a postdoc, we'd especially like to encourage you to submit your own contribution — ideally a scientific poster. Presenting a poster is one of the most approachable ways to get your first conference experience under your belt: it's a real academic contribution, but a low-pressure format for starting out. As we said, you’re welcome to come along even if you’re not presenting a poster.

⚠️ The time-critical date is 1 August 2026 — that's the deadline for poster abstract submissions. If you're considering presenting a poster, start there.

To help you prepare, we're offering a Compact Online Workshop on Designing Effective Academic Posters, on 27 August with a follow-up session on 8 September. No prior poster experience needed. If you don't have any possibilities to print your poster, we will support you.

How to join us — 3 steps:

1. Register with us for the group trip until 24 July. Places are limited — first come, first served. Write an email.
2. Register for the Conference asap. Especially when you want to join Transferable Skills Workshops for Early Career Physisicts, don't wait and register. Use this link.
3. Pay the conference fee yourself when registering. We unfortunately cannot process payments centrally for you this year. Please keep your receipt/invoice — we will reimburse the fee collectively after the conference. If covering the fee upfront is a challenge for you, please reach out to us. We'll find a solution together.

Submitting a poster?

1. Submit your abstract by 1 August 2026: Use this link. Anyone who'd like support formulating their poster abstract, please reach out via email.
2. If you want: Register separately for our Compact Online Workshop on Designing Effective Academic Posters (27 August / 8 September).
