18.12.2025 Civic Education - European Perspectives
On November 24, 2025, Project LiMa and the Center for Teacher Education organized a digital round table discussion titled "Education for Democracy - European Perspectives" with educators Susann Gessner of Philipps-University Marburg (Institute for Political Science), Maria João Hortas of University of Lisbon (Centre for Geographical Studies), Dobrochna Hildebrandt-Wypych of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Faculty of Educational Studies) and Marija Stanojević Veselinović of University of Kragujevac (Faculty of Education). They provided insights into the challenges and opportunities of civic education and education for democracy in Europe, shared their country-specific perspectives, and the participating students engaged in lively discussions.
During the event, 34 participants from Czech Republic, Germany, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Sweden were given the opportunity to discuss how civic education and democratic values can be further promoted in their respective national educational systems. Additionally, they discussed the internationalization of (teacher) education and how it can contribute to democratic education. Participants developed common questions and shared their findings in the panel discussion.
