As a student of Marburg University’s Bachelor of Science programme in Economics, you will examine the functioning of the economy as a whole, such as how the market sets prices, how international trade works, which regulations are necessary for functioning financial markets, how difficult environmental problems (such as climate change) can be solved and how the challenges posed by digitisation should be handled in terms of economic policy. The particular focus of Marburg’s Economics programme is on analysing institutions (particularly rules) in order to resolve the wide array of problems that arise in today's highly dynamic and complex societies based on the division of labour.

What do we offer?

  • A broad-based foundation in economics with a strong focus on methods;
  • explicit consideration of the significance of institutions for the economy;
  • close integration with business administration theory and the opportunity to develop an individual profile;
  • innovative course offerings such as methods in philosophy of science, history of dogma and real-world economics;
  • case study-based interactive exercises, e-learning and seminars in and outside of Marburg;
  • internationally oriented and English-language courses;
  • very strong support and mentoring;
  • the programme starts in the summer and the winter term.
