Quantifying dependence and association between random variables or vectors X and Y is a fundamental problem in statistics. The topic of my dissertation is copula-based quantification of dependence between random vectors with a focus on the development of a new dependence measure which is able to detect asymmetry and direction in dependence. Further objectives in the PhD thesis are to study the mathematical properties of this type of measures, develop an appropriate estimator and implement the estimator into the open source software R.
