Maier Lab
Scientific Focus
Research focus of the Maier lab is endosymbioses, especially secondary endosymbiosis and the complex plastids resulting from this. We are particularly interested in cell biological questions, e.g. the transport of proteins across membranes, the characterization of protein functions and the resulting biological consequences.
A further central project of our research group is the evolutionary and genomic analysis of bacterial symbionts, which occur in eukaryotic cells.
