If you are interested in taking part in competitive sport or just keeping fit in Marburg, we recommend you to take a look at the wide range of opportunities on offer at the University Sports Centre. Several gymnasiums and outdoor pitches, a club house at “Edersee” (a lake), a boathouse on the river Lahn and a number of tennis courts all invite you to get active. Being the largest sports provider in Marburg, it is possible to attend tailor-made classes.
The first week of the semester is a “taster week”. You have the opportunity to find out about all the various offers and try out different sports. Some types of sport organise extra information events. During university holidays the Sports Centre offers a special program which is posted online at the beginning of the semester.
There are two ways of registering and paying for courses which incur charges:
- from the second week of the semester all dayonline; for any courses incurring charges by directdebit (you have to print confirmation of registrationyourself).
- in the third week of the semester by going round to the office personally to register for any places left in the courses incurring charges, irrespective of course times and locations.
University Sports Center (Hochschulsport)
The university sports center (Zentrum für Hochschulsport) offers a wide range of different sports in which all members of Philipps-Universität can participate. Each semester, a booklet with the course offer is published. Registration normally takes place online during the first week of the semester.
