Corona Emergency Aid Fund of Philipps-Universität Marburg

Students of Philipps-Universität Marburg who are in financial distress as a result of the Corona pandemic can be supported by the Corona Emergency Aid Fund in the form of a one-off immediate grant.
This is a fund established by Philipps-Universität Marburg and supported by the Evangelische Studierendengemeinde Marburg (ESG), which is filled by donations from internal and external donors. Consequently, the total amount of funding available depends directly on the income from donations and is recalculated weekly.

We would like to thank all our donors

Notes on how to submit an application:

  1. Purpose limitation
The Corona Emergency Aid Fund of Philipps-Universität Marburg is intended to provide short-term and needs-based assistance for students in order to alleviate acute existential needs caused directly or indirectly by the pandemic. As a consequence, proof of the pandemic-related financing shortage, such as the loss of income from employment or payments from third parties, is required.
  2. The amount of the grant
The amount of the grant is usually 200.00 Euros. Deviations are possible in justified cases due to special social situations. The money does not have to be paid back.
  3. Awarding/decision
The grant is guaranteed without legal entitlement, depending on the documented emergency situation and the available funds.
The case examination is carried out by a team of the Evangelische Studierendengemeinde Marburg, which has been specially appointed for this purpose. However, funding is not tied to denominational affiliation. The decision is made on the basis of the submitted application form, the evidence submitted and a personal conversation with the ESG team. The aim of this procedure is to distribute funds as quickly as possible in line with needs.
Please note, however, that the total amount of funding available is calculated on a weekly basis. Only donations received by the respective cut-off date are available for funding. We are trying to reach as many donors as possible, but it may not be possible to support all the causes that are basically worthy of support. The fund will therefore not be able to replace other long-term solutions. We therefore urgently ask you to consider other financing options for you.
  4. Application and selection procedure
To apply, please use the application form.
Please send the completed application in PDF format to                 (The signature can be added during the personal interview.)

Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.

After the application has been reviewed by the Evangelische Studierendengemeinde Marburg (ESG), which is responsible for processing applications, you will receive an invitation to a personal interview by e-mail. This interview is obligatory and serves to determine the need for funding.

Please bring the following documents to the interview:

  1. Short curriculum vitae reflecting the period of study and professional experience
  2. Copy of the identity card, copy of the residence permit if applicable
  3. Evidence of the need for support
    • In case of loss of income:last employment contract(s) and notice of termination/or similar documents
    • In the event that third-party financing is no longer required: Proof of discontinued payments (if available)
    • Other documents which may justify your need (this can include account statements since January 2020)
    • Account statements since July 2020
  4. After the interview, the Evangelische Studierendengemeinde Marburg clarifies in consultation with the university whether and to what extent a grant is possible. The applicant will be informed of this decision as soon as possible by e-mail. The grant will then be paid out by the University of Marburg.

This procedure may take a few days and we ask for your patience.
