About LOEWE

The LOEWE programme (Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz) is the Hessian programme for the promotion of cutting-edge research.

The state government uses this programme to support universities and research institutions in Hesse in further raising their profile and implementing strategic goals. LOEWE promotes outstanding collaborative scientific projects, in particular intensive networking between science, non-university research and industry.

In addition, in cooperation and coordination with the major research organisations, the ground is to be prepared for the establishment of further research institutions jointly financed by the federal and state governments.

LOEWE provides funding of around 70 - 80 million euros per year for centres, focal points, SME collaborative projects, professorships and exploration projects.

The LOEWE research projects have joined forces to form ProLOEWE (https://www.proloewe.de/) in order to provide joint information about their activities.
