29.06.2026 RobuCop and Tree-M at Hessentag in Fulda
One microscope, two tiny oaks, three persons, four nucleotides, five pipettes – makes a great day at the Hessentag in Fulda!
RobuCop was invited together with the LOEWE project Tree-M to host one day at the HMWK information booth at the Hessentag and present our research to everyone who was interested – which was a super diverse and interested audience!
We brought not only some Chlamys to be watched under the microscope, but also two tiny oak trees – no microscope needed for those!
Our smallest visitors (okay, let’s be honest – it was for everyone!) could craft unique bracelets with their name written in colourful DNA code!
But the most interesting and fun part was to get some real lab experience: with our tiny laboratory everyone was able to experience what it means to be a scientist: pipetting incredible small volumes (2% of 1mL!), the importance of labelling colourless liquids, filling the incubation periods with asking questions and getting more information, getting to extract DNA from yeast or algae, and of course: trouble shooting in every step along the process!
We had a great day in Fulda! We were getting to know many people and were able to spark interest in our research topics and in becoming a scientist. We will be back, for sure!
