Congratulations to Abier Anakrh for finalizing her Master of Science in Physics
In her master’s thesis, Abier Anakrh has explored the optical properties of hybrid metal halides. These materials offer a versatile platform to tailor optical properties via the choice of organic and inorganic compounds. While metal halides have attracted broad scientific interest, for example because of the possibility to introduce chiral properties into the inorganic sublattice or due to the broadband emission originating from excimer states, the underlying photophysics is in many aspects unclear. In particular, the interplay between excited states and the “soft” lattice of the compounds needs further clarification. Abier has studied the optical properties of a series of compounds with different halide anions and metal cations provided by the group of Prof. Johanna Heine (now Univ. Oldenburg) with a combination of PLE spectroscopy, excitation-emission mapping, static- and time-resolved PL spectroscopy. She has identified clear influences of temperature and composition on the absorption and emission properties and her results also suggest that tuning the excitation wavelength addresses different emissive population subsets, which is a good starting point for further studies.
