The INCOPS Project announces the publication of its latest report,  "Technical Solutions to Work-based Learning in Peace, Conflict & Security Studies" authored by David Curran, Miho Taka, and Frank Grundig. This publication introduces and explores the potential of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) as a technical solution for Work-based Learning (WBL) in the realm of Peace, Conflict, and Security Studies (PCS).

This report, developed during Intellectual Output 3, advocates for the integration of internship and volunteer modules from Higher Education Institutes into a COIL framework. This innovative approach brings educators and learners from diverse institutions and countries together in an online space, fostering collaborative learning experiences.

Identifying skills development and self-reflection, alongside the intersection of theory and practice in WBL processes, as prime areas for COIL learning, the guidelines aim to enhance student experiences and cultivate cross-cultural understanding of the challenges and opportunities inherent in the WBL journey.

Emphasizing collaboration among students and leveraging the diverse range of internet-based tools, the guidelines focus on optimizing existing tools adopted by educators rather than proposing new ones. The report features successful COIL courses at Coventry University and outlines a course specifically targeting skills development, self-reflection, and understanding theory-practice dynamics within WBL processes.
