Visit of Mercator Fellow Vanessa Schwartz

Guest lecture and visit by Vanessa Schwartz, Professor at the History, Art History and Film department of the University of Southern California and Director of its Visual Studies Research Institute. The presentation will take place at the Institute for Media Studies on Wednesday, December 1st 2021, from 6-8pm. The lecture will be held in person in the A-Turm, SR 01A02 (2G rule will apply). Please be sure to leave on your mask at your seat.

Professor Schwartz will give a presentation on her latest book, "Jet Age Aesthetics. The Glamour of Media in Motion" (Yale University Press, 2020). Her publication is concerned with how "the age of the jet" shaped aesthetic experiences in the 1950s and 1960s, as demonstrated through a variety of presentations, ranging from architecture and design to fashion- and photojournalism.
