Facilities

The project is supported by a diverse range of shared research facilities that are accessible to participating workgroups and departments. These include specialized indoor and outdoor infrastructures that enable experimental, field-based, and analytical research across disciplines. Together, they provide the technical and logistical foundation for collaborative scientific work within the center.

Botanical Garden Marburg

The Botanical Garden in Marburg is a university research facility on the Lahnberge that provides curated plant collections and experimental habitats supporting research, teaching, and biodiversity conservation. It serves as an infrastructure for experimental and observational studies across plant-related disciplines.
Marburg Open Forest

The Marburg Open Forest is a research and monitoring area that provides access to managed forest ecosystems for long-term ecological studies, experimental research, and teaching. It serves as a platform for investigating forest processes, biodiversity, and environmental change under near-natural conditions.
Mesocosmhall SBiK-F

The Senckenberg SBiK-F Mesocosm Hall is a controlled experimental facility that enables large-scale ecological experiments under semi-natural but highly regulated environmental conditions. It provides infrastructure for investigating ecosystem processes, species interactions, and environmental change under reproducible settings.
ECSF Research Station Equador

The ECSF Research Station in Ecuador is a tropical field research facility that provides infrastructure for long-term ecological and biodiversity studies in Andean forest ecosystems. It supports in-situ research, monitoring, and experimentation under natural environmental conditions.
Marburg Satellite Station (MSS)

The Marburg Satellite Station (MSS) is a remote sensing and data acquisition facility that supports the reception, processing, and integration of Earth observation data for environmental and ecological research. It provides infrastructure for linking satellite-based information with in-situ measurements across research projects.
Linden Ground Truth and Profiling Station & Metrology and Maintenance Laboratory

The Linden Ground Truth and Profiling Station and the Metrology and Maintenance Laboratory provide infrastructure for collecting, calibrating, and validating environmental data, ensuring measurement accuracy and instrument quality control across research projects.
