Prof. M. Bader The Bader group (Ecological Plant Geography) studies plant ecology from individual organisms to ecosystems, focusing on functional ecology, community dynamics, and spatial patterns of vegetation in mountains and tropical regions, with an emphasis on epiphytes, bryophytes, and treeline ecosystems.
-
Prof. S. Becker The Becker group aims to impact high-stake real-world problem settings at the intersection of medicine, environmental change, and human behavior through artificial intelligence and machine learning.
-
Prof. J. Bendix The Bendix group investigates tropical and mountain ecosystems, focusing on climate–vegetation interactions, biodiversity patterns, and ecosystem processes using field-based ecology combined with remote sensing and spatial analysis.
-
Prof. P. Chifflard The group works in hydrology and environmental geography, focusing on flood processes, rainfall–runoff dynamics, and water-related natural hazards, with an emphasis on risk assessment and climate change impacts on hydrological systems.
-
Prof. C. Peter The Peter group conducts research in physical geography with a focus on hydrology and environmental systems, analyzing water and sediment fluxes, landscape processes, and the impacts of environmental change using field observations and modeling approaches.

Prof. D. Zeuss We study the effects of climate change on social-ecological systems and human health through remote sensing and artificial intelligence (AI), and share our knowledge through open source and open data. We develop and apply predictive modelling methods and automatic workflows for obtaining area-wide environmental and biodiversity information at multiple spatiotemporal scales. We develop and provide database systems for the integration of data obtained by networked remote and in-situ sensor solutions.
