Final thesis process

Here you will find important information on the possibility of having your thesis supervised by the Sustainability Management Research Group.

  • Application

    Please hand in the following documents:
    - Letter of motivation or exposé
    - Current CV
    - Current transcript of records

    Students who have already participated in a course or seminar will receive preferential treatment in the application process.

    Please send your application to:
    Deadline: March 1st for the summer semester and September 1st for the winter semester

    A confirmation email will be sent by April 1st or October 1st.

  • Letter of motivation or exposé

    Option A: If you need support in finding a topic you can submit a letter of motivation

    The letter of motivation should show why you are interested in writing a thesis with our research group, which topics you are interested in and which methods (quantitative or qualitative) you wish to work with.
    Required Length: 1 Page

    Option B: In case you already have developed a research idea by yourself, please submit an exposé

    Your exposé should outline the research topic you are interested in. Ideally, you already present a research question. You should also demonstrate that you have familiarized yourself with different methodological approaches.
    Required Length: 2-3 relevant scientific sources, a description of your methodological approach and an outline.

  • Thesis registration

    Please submit the official application form to the examination office within two weeks after the confirmation by the research group.

  • Topic selection

    The first meeting for the discussion of your own research idea or assignment of the topic will take place during mid-Aptil for summer semester and mid-October for the winter semester.

    The topic selection form will be filled out by the research group and forwarded to the examination office after the first meeting.

Further information

Length of the thesis:

  • Bachelor's thesis: 25 pages of continuous text (excl. indexes, figures, etc.)
  • Master's thesis: 50 pages of continuous text (excl. indexes, figures, etc.)

Deadlines:

  • Summer semester: 1st of March
  • Winter semester: 1st of September
