    “What Went Wrong in Post 9/11 Development of Afghanistan?” ​

    Mohammad Haroon Asadi is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, Balkh University (since 2010). He has a background in empirical development economics. He obtained his Master Degree in Management and Economics from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. He received his BSc degree in Finance from Balkh University. He served as Director of the Afghan Economic Society, which has been led by the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy (IEE) at Ruhr University Bochum. His research interests include  development economics and public finance. He has cooperated with several INGOs and UN agencies in Afghanistan. His current research focuses on the SDGs pillars in Afghanistan, especially those themes related to poverty, quality of education, inequality and corruption, and peace and conflict.

    Qudratullah Rahmat, Chief Risk Officer, Azizi Bank, Kabul

    “Banking and Financial Industry of Afghanistan”​

    Qudratullah Rahmat has more than a decade of professional experiences in the banking and financial industry of Afghanistan. He has worked as Risk Manager and Reserve Portfolio Manager of the Central Bank of Afghanistan (DAB) for three years and more than seven years in commercial banks as Chief Risk Officer, Member of the Board of Directors, and researcher as part of his academic activities. He has a postgraduate degree in Economics from Ruhr University Bochum. He is currently working as Chief Risk Officer of Azizi Bank—the largest commercial bank in Afghanistan. His research area is mainly on banking industry.
