18.06.2026 GenDem at the European Conference on Politics and Gender (ECPG) in Newcastle
This year's ECPG took place between June 15 and 17, 2026 – and GenDem was there!
Three members of GenDem – Prof. Dr. Chriz Klapeer, Prof. Dr. Annette Henninger, and Julia Höhl – traveled to England for the ECPG and made several contributions to the conference program:
On the second day of the conference, Henninger served as chair for the panel “After the Arabellion: Antifeminism and ‘Anti-Gender’ Politics in the SWANA Region.”
On June 17, Klapeer chaired the panel: “LGBTIQ+ Movements as Drivers of Democratization? Exploring the Role of LGBTIQ+ Activism in Promoting, Defending, and Deepening Democracy.” In addition, the following paper by Klapeer and Jules T. Höhl was presented: “Radicalizing Homonormativity, Promoting Authoritarian Metapolitics: How LGBT(IQ+)-Led Anti-Gender Campaigns Modernize and Normalize Anti-Democratic Sexual Politics.”
