The GenDem subproject examines anti-feminism in the context of nation-building in 20th-century Eastern Europe. The focus is on questions regarding the intersections of anti-feminist and nationalist mobilizations, the role of sociopolitical crises, the prospects for advancing women’s rights in the context of persistent anti-feminist rhetoric, and the effects of anti-feminist mobilizations on post-socialist restructuring.
