28.10.2026 Second GenDem Colloquium Focused on Research
On October 16, 2026, the second colloquium for GenDem staff members in the qualification phase took place. This provided an opportunity for exchange among the individual subprojects.
At the second colloquium, held this time at Justus Liebig University in Giessen, doctoral students and postdocs from the LOEWE Research Cluster GenDem had the opportunity to present the current status of their research. Of particular interest was the aspect of operationalizing the diverse research topics.
These presentations highlighted that some of the six GenDem subprojects have already been able to begin the data collection phase. Projects such as “Queer Border Figures” and “Antifeminism Among Islamist Social Media Activists” are collecting their research data online, while others, such as “Antifeminism in Eastern Europe in the 20th Century” base their research on historical source analysis.
Following each presentation, questions regarding the methodological approach and content were discussed in the plenary session. From questions about interviews to discussions about sources: Once again, all GenDem staff members benefited from the professional exchange among peers.
In closing, the plenary session decided to work together to refine terms and definitions related to antifeminism in the next colloquium in Marburg in February 2027. We’re looking forward to it!
