Excitons in 2D semiconductors carry spin and valley degrees of freedom that can be coupled and manipulated by external fields. We investigate spin-dependent excitonic phenomena, excitons in magnetic fields, and coupled spin–valley dynamics to reveal how these internal quantum numbers can be harnessed for information processing. A particular focus is on their interaction with free carriers, where exciton–electron mixtures open pathways to new regimes of correlated spin and valley physics.
