Nucleosid Booster Project

Here we test different nucleoside analogues with respect to their ability to inhibit viral replication of many different highly pathogenic viruses. The project is a joint project between partners of the DZIF research area Emerging Infections Antiviral Compound testing Platform (ACTP) together with the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDi) who is responsible for the development of the nucleosides.
At the institute for virology, we test these nucleoside analogues in an RT-PCR based 96-well plate assay for their efficacy against filoviruses like Ebolavirus, Marburgvirus or Paramyxoviruses like Nipahvirus. Goal of the project is to identify and further develop antiviral compounds that have a broad-spectrum activity against many viruses or virus families.
