Starting in October 2025, the HeFDI Data School will be entering a new round of online training courses.

History of the HeFDI Data School

In view of the increasingly important role of informed and organized handling of research data and the associated need for high-quality training courses for researchers, which are only provided locally in a few cases, HeFDI piloted a cross-location training course in 2021. This pilot was already designed as an online offer in order to provide the lowest possible threshold of access for all researchers from Hesse.  Thanks to the cooperation of several locations in the planning and implementation, it was possible to create a broader and more in-depth range of courses while maintaining the same level of local resources. This pilot was very well received, so that the HeFDI Data School format was iterated in the following two years and expanded into a federated service.

Contents of the HeFDI Data School

The HeFDI Data School offers cross-location and interdisciplinary courses on research data management. It is equally aimed at doctoral candidates and academic staff from Hessian universities and beyond.

The basic modules provide an introduction to essential aspects of research data management (RDM). They focus on key terms, standard methods, and best practices. The focus modules and crash courses offer a deeper insight into selected subfields and tools.

Target group of the HeFDI Data School

The HeFDI Data School is aimed equally at doctoral students and research staff of Hessian universities.
