16.12.2025 Statement on death threats against a female scientist
There is no place for threats, violence, or intimidation at our university
In recent years, scientists at our university have repeatedly been the target of anti-science and anti-feminist attacks. With the latest series of dehumanizing death threats against a female scientist, a new level of escalation has been reached.
Threats of violence against a member of the university are reprehensible. They are not only an attack on an individual, but on our entire university community and on academic freedom. We stand firmly behind our colleague and her team. We support them wholeheartedly. Together with the working group, we have ensured that everyone can continue their excellent scientific work. We will not be intimidated. We will not back down.
Research and teaching thrive on asking questions, exchanging opinions, and engaging critically with one another. This should always be done with respect and in a safe, non-violent environment. We are a place for the exchange of knowledge and ideas. We promote dialogue between people who want to make a difference. Our university stands for cohesion, mutual support, shared democratic values, and the common goal of shaping tomorrow's world in a positive way. Anyone who attacks this foundation stands outside this community. Threats and violence have no place in our university life and will not determine it. We will ensure that this remains the case.
