Congratulations to Pranav Elango for successfully defending his master’s thesis! Pranav investigated the structural and optical properties of mechanochemically synthesized tin-based metal halide perovskites. These compounds are less toxic compared to their lead-based counterparts and could serve as next-generation lighting or light harvesting materials, but it is important to understand the underlying defect photophysics. In his work, Pranav could show that the compounds undergo a phase transition upon cooling, whereas the presence of defects is primarily evident in non-radiative processes. Pranav has established a procedure to mount the air-sensitive powdery samples under inert atmosphere into our cryostat – this will certainly be beneficial for our future work, thanks a lot!

We thank Pranav for his valuable contributions to project and we wish him all the best for his future career!
