Clinical Linguistics

The Clinical Linguistics research group studies the numerous forms of language disorders that can arise in children and adults. These include developmental language disordersin childhood and aphasia after the onset of neurological conditions such as stroke. Through externally funded projects, Ph.D. programs, collaborative partnerships, and student projects, the team’s active research pursues a wide variety of topics relating to impaired language and communication. The team also serves as instructors in the clinical linguistics master’s degree program, which provides practice-led training in speech therapy.
