About this Role

Professor Aditi Lahiri (Mercator Fellow of the GRK2700) has been awarded an ERC Synergy Grant for the project PAAL, conducted in collaboration with the University of Agder (Kristiansand, Norway) and Radboud University (Nijmegen, The Netherlands).

The Language and Brain Laboratory team is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to experimentally investigate phonological and morphological representation and cognisance across a variety of languages. The successful candidate will join a vibrant interdisciplinary team and contribute to cutting-edge research in morphology, phonology, and psycholinguistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct theoretical and experimental research on phonological and morphophonological representations in the mental lexicon.
  • Publish research papers in internationally refereed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
  • Contribute actively to the intellectual life of the PAAL research group, including online meetings and collaborative visits.
  • Assist with grant reporting, including milestone and final reports.
  • Play a role in shaping research directions, methodologies, and responsibilities within the project.
  • Provide instruction and day-to-day supervision to graduate students and junior researchers.
  • Support other practical and administrative aspects of the project when required.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • PhD in Linguistics or Psychology (with a language focus).
  • Strong background in phonology and morphophonology.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated expertise in psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics.
  • Proven ability to independently acquire and analyse EEG data.
  • Solid knowledge of statistics.
  • At least one recent publication in an internationally recognized journal.
  • Experience presenting at international conferences.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Desirable

  • Experience with eye-tracking.
  • Knowledge of German.
