Lehre@Philipp - Innovative, diverse, digital

As part of the 6th Teaching@Philipps Ideas Competition, innovative ideas on teaching concepts and methods from committed teachers and students at Philipps-Universität Marburg were awarded the Teaching@Philipps Teaching Prize on November 17, 2022. Among others, those teaching ideas were awarded that take into account student diversity on an individual, socio-structural and organizational level. The NIDIT project was able to tie in particularly well with this day with an extension proposal on the topic of "Digital Diversity" to highlight the advantages of digital offerings for a heterogeneous student body and a more diverse range of courses. The Day of Teaching was a unique platform to expand the reach among the university teachers of the collaborative partners and to draw attention to the topic of digital diversity.

The day opened with a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Kergel on "Digitization and Diversity: Opportunities for University Teaching" followed by a discussion. This was immediately followed by two workshops in a face-to-face and online format on best practice examples: "What is good teaching for whom? Reflecting on student diversity and using it as an opportunity" and "Diversity-sensitive teaching and learning with digital media: experiences and perspectives". The active participation in the discussion and numerous positive feedbacks on the topic have prompted the NIDIT project to offer another one-day face-to-face workshop on "Ideas for heterogeneity-sensitive teaching in the introductory phase of studies and beyond" in the new year on 09 March 2023. Further information will also be announced soon under continuing education offerings on the NIDIT homepage.

Das X-Space Gamelab im Virtuellen Raum

The afternoon continued with the impulses for innovative teaching in a hybrid format. Here, too, NIDIT was actively involved in the program design on site: The "Lab for innovative Teaching" opened the doors of the XSpace Game Lab on the 2nd floor of the Marburg University Library. There was a guided tour through the room as well as information about the available equipment and the offers available for teachers and students. As a special highlight, the visitors were able to enter a completely virtual lab using virtual reality glasses and the software 3Spin Learning and work on tasks in the style of an Escape Room. The feedback from visitors was overwhelmingly positive, and the demo of the virtual game lab showed that the company's own rooms and settings can also be converted into virtual rooms and interactively equipped. Building on this, projects are now to be launched with teachers in 2023 to transfer the experience gained into teaching practice and to develop concrete didactic added value.
