Investigation of crystallization processes by THz spectroscopy

Foto: Rolf Wegst

Within the last two years, the research group of Professor Martin Koch constructed a new terahertz spectrometer based on the principle of diminished total reflection. This worldwide unique device is excellently suited to study crystallization processes in solutions. The exact conduct of processes like the creation of sugar- or salt-crystal from a watery, evaporating solution is still in question.

Measurements with our spectrometer may contribute to the clarification of involved mechanisms. If you are interested in conducting experiments in this field of research or in the further development of the spectrometer please consider the contact.
