Ultrafast phenomena
Hi everyone,
we are a team of experimental researchers focusing on ultrafast and coherent phenomena in quantum materials. We employ ultrashort laser pulses and advanced setups for photoemission spectroscopy – so-called momentum microscopes – to study the dynamics of fundamental excitations on ultrashort time- and length-scales, i.e., on the length scale of 100 nm and the time-scale of 50 fs.
We focus on two-dimensional van-der-Waals materials and organic systems to answer questions related to
- the electronic structure and ultrafast quasiparticle dynamics in twisted van-der-Waals materials and hybrid organic/inorganic interfaces,
- the interaction of quasiparticles with the emergent moiré potential,
- the creation and melting of correlated phases of matter,
- and the application of Floquet engineering strategies to coherently manipulate quantum material properties and topological phases on-demand.
