HeFDI Data Talk on 11.03.2022, 11-12h, online.

In the field of research data management, one hears more and more about XML and cross-discipline and discipline-specific metadata schemas.

Unfortunately, the application of Extensible Markup Language (XML) and the use of such metadata schemas are not trivial. At least in the area of text digitization using Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) guidelines, they are not achieved simply by entering metadata into a form. This workshop is aimed at people who have had little or nothing to do with this topic so far, and is intended to provide a brief but more practically oriented insight into XML and metadata schemas.

The speaker Andre M. Pietsch M.A. is a graduate of the Master's program "Computational Linguistics and Text Technology" at JLU Gießen. Since the beginning of his master studies he has been familiar with TEI and the DTA base format (Deutsches Textarchiv), especially for transferring historical texts into the DTA base format. After working on the historical-lexicographic project "ZHistLex" and CLARIN-D, he has been a research data officer at the JLU Gießen University Library since March 2020.
