HeFDI Data Talk on 11.02.2022, 11-12h, online.

NFDI4Biodiversity is a consortium within the Nationale Forschungsdateninfrasstruktur (NFDI) (english: National Research Data Infrastructure) with a focus on services for biodiversity research and ecology.

Countless studies document the decline of biodiversity on our planet. The pressing questions are what effects the decline in biodiversity has on the ecosystems affected and what (anthropogenic) influences reduce or promote biodiversity. In order to understand the complex interrelationships and to derive recommendations for action, diverse, quality-assured and FAIR data are needed. These include the occurrence of plants, animals and microorganisms, including their genotypic, phenotypic and functional diversity, and their interactions in populations and ecosystems.

NFDI4Biodiversity has brought together 49 partners from academia, government, and citizen science to advance the mobilization and publication of existing data, develop efficient workflows, and provide tools and services to support analyses.

The speaker Prof. Dr. Frank Oliver Glöckner holds the professorship for Earth System Data Sciences at the University of Bremen - MARUM, is head of data at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven and chairman of the board of the association GFBio e.V. - Gesellschaft für Biologische Daten e.V. He is speaker of the consortium NFDI4Biodiversity and overall leader of the information system PANGAEA - data publisher for earth and environmental sciences. As a member of the Council for Information Infrastructures, he was involved in the creation of the NFDI.

Participation is free of charge.
