Information on devices with an Intel-WiFi-chip

Older laptop models (2019 and earlier) and other devices that use an Intel-WiFi-chip with 802.11ac support may experience problems with the WiFi connection. The problem occurs on new access points that use the WiFi standard 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6). The SSIDs of the available networks (eduroam, staff, etc.) are not displayed on affected devices.

Another variant of the problem results in seemingly slow connections with poor reception. In this case, an older access point that is not yet running the new standard can be reached some distance away. The cause is old Intel WiFi drivers that do not yet support 802.11ax. Employees can also contact the responsible department administrator. You can update the drivers either remotely or locally in the device manager. There is also an Opsi package that can install the drivers if required.
