Building Resilient Partnerships: Trust, Dialogue and Collaboration Across Borders

The Erasmus+ team of Marburg University warmly invites you to our International Staff Training Week 2027.
In a time of growing political and societal uncertainty, international cooperation can no longer be taken for granted. Universities need strong and resilient partnerships – built on trust, dialogue, shared interests and long-term commitment.
During our Staff Training Week 2027, we will explore what makes international academic networks work and how universities can strengthen cooperation across institutional, geographical and political borders.
Topics and objectives
Throughout the week, we will address questions such as:
- What makes international university networks strong and sustainable?
- How can universities build resilient partnerships in uncertain times?
- What role do trust, dialogue and personal relationships play in international cooperation?
- How can international networks contribute to institutional development and resilience?
Interactive formats, discussions and peer exchange will provide space to reflect on existing partnerships, share experiences and develop new perspectives for international cooperation.
Leadership Forum 2027
A central part of this year's Staff Training Week will be the two-day Leadership Forum on April 7 and 8, 2027:
Internationalizing Higher Education in a Turbulent World
The Forum will bring together university leaders and decision-makers to discuss the strategic role of internationalisation in a changing global environment.
Key topics will include institutional resilience, internationalisation strategy, risk management, international research and talent, academic values and the societal role of universities.
Keynotes, panels and interactive workshops will bring together different institutional and international perspectives and provide opportunities for strategic exchange and networking.
Who can participate?
The Staff Training Week is primarily aimed at university leadership, senior decision-makers and colleagues with strategic responsibility for internationalisation and international cooperation.
We particularly welcome participants who are interested in contributing their institutional perspectives and engaging in an open exchange with colleagues from universities across different countries and regions.
Programme
The Staff Training Week will take place from April 5 to 9, 2027 at Marburg University.
Monday and Tuesday will focus on building and sustaining international networks and partnerships. On Wednesday and Thursday, participants will join the Leadership Forum “Internationalizing Higher Education in a Turbulent World”. Friday will provide space for reflection, transfer and future cooperation.
A social and cultural programme in Marburg will complement the working sessions.
