Staff Training Week 2026 at Marburg University

The Role of International Mobility in HEI Internationalization Strategy
from March 9, 2026 to March 13, 2026
The Erasmus+ team of Marburg University warmly invites you to our International Staff Training Week 2026!
Topics and objectives: What will be our focus?
Together we will explore how international mobility shapes and strengthens higher education internationalisation strategies.
International learning mobility offers students and staff opportunities to broaden academic knowledge, enhance employability and language skills, and foster personal growth and intercultural competence. Yet research shows that mobility alone does not automatically remove bias or guarantee intercultural understanding. We will therefore look at mobility within a wider strategy that also addresses diversity, inclusion and critical, equitable and responsible internationalisation.
Who can participate?
The Staff Training Week is intended for colleagues from International Relations Offices as well as colleagues in the fields of Structural Development and Research. We are happy to host max. 2 participants per university.
Programme
Workshops will run Monday – Friday in rooms of Marburg University, located in the city centre.
Throughout the week we will
- examine internationalisation and its relation to diversity and inclusion,
- discuss different main goals of internationalisation (also in regard of key trends in different regions) – from improving individual or national economic advantage and rankings, to improving society, promoting social justice and/ or decolonising and de-westernising knowledge,
- reflect on how internationalisation looks at our own institutions, where we differ, how we can benefit from each other, and how students can learn from these differences.
A welcome dinner as well as social and cultural activities in Marburg will complement our working sessions and create space for informal networking.
The detailed programme will follow, but you can already expect a rich mix of collaborative discussions, peer learning, and opportunities to co-design ideas for future strategies.
