The Doctoral Candidate Group

Since May 2023, a group of doctoral students at the MCDCI, led by Pauline Junginger, Berenike Rensinghoff, and Elena Suárez Cronauer, has been organizing peer-to-peer exchanges as part of a regular colloquium. All interested doctoral and master's students who are nearing the end of their studies or beginning their master's thesis are cordially invited to attend.

Internal meetings in Marburg (also with the option of online participation) allow doctoral students to present and discuss their research projects. Meetings in smaller groups are also possible to practice presentations or discuss specific questions. This peer-to-peer exchange thus offers mutual support not only in content-related questions, but also with regard to organizational challenges related to doctoral studies, allowing even problematic aspects to be addressed in a protected setting among equals.

A major achievement of this format, which was developed on the initiative of the doctoral students themselves, is that the focus is on the doctoral students' topics and interests. This means respectful interaction is given high priority.

An additional annual meeting is used to present the status of dissertation projects to supervisors or other university members and to discuss them in a larger group. The doctoral candidate group also maintains contact with the HERMES doctoral network and organizes joint events with it.

In addition to regular on-site meetings, an instant messaging channel (Mattermost) and an email distribution list have been set up for communication within the doctoral student group. Contact with the doctoral student group can be made through
