About This Event

This session forms part of the European Vaccines Hub’s Annual Meeting and is jointly organized by the MAP-X Forum, DZIF, and EVH. It addresses key questions at the interface of pandemic preparedness and vaccine innovation, including:

• How DZIF and EVH collaborate to strengthen Europe's capacity to respond to emerging pathogens.
• The role of next generation delivery systems, including lipid nanoparticles in future vaccine platforms.
• The use potential of nanoparticles to facilitate vaccination against a large range of viruses.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of the strategic approaches taken by DZIF and EVH and will have the opportunity to engage with leading vaccine researchers from across Europe.

Speaker Biography

Prof. María Jose Alonso Fernández is a leading authority in drug delivery and nanotechnology at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, SpainHer research focuses on novel vaccine delivery systems, particularly lipid nanoparticles as well as intranasal immunisation. By targeting mucosal immunity, her work opens promising pathways for next‑generation vaccines against respiratory pathogens and potential Pathogen X scenarios.
