Ombudspersons and DFG Liaison Officer of the University of Marburg

Ombudspersons

For an ombuds procedure at the University of Marburg, the principles of confidentiality, fairness and transparency apply to all parties involved. Every member of the university is entitled to speak to the ombudsperson personally and in a timely manner. The ombuds activities are governed by the "Statutes for Ensuring Good Research Practice at the University of Marburg” (officially: “Satzung zur Sicherung guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis an der Philipps-Universität Marburg”) and the “Procedural Principles of the Ombudsperson of the University of Marburg” (officially: “Verfahrensgrundsätze der Ombudsperson der Philipps-Universität”). In addition to the ombudspersons, the commission “Self-Regulation in Academia/Science” (“Selbstkontrolle in der Wissenschaft”) is responsible for safeguarding good research practice. The procedural principles adopted by the Executive Board are based on the recommendations formulated in 1997 by the commission, which was appointed by the DFG, as well as on the procedural principles of the DFG Liaison Officer.

DFG Liaison Officer

The DFG Liaison Officer advises scientists and scholars of the University of Marburg about the funding opportunities of the German Research Foundation (DFG). All universities that are members of the DFG appoint one of their professors as their Liaison Officer. The tasks include a wide range of advisory services, for example, supplying information on various funding opportunities, assisting with the application process, especially for first-time applications, and providing advice for questions of doubt. These doubts may arise not only during the application process, but also in the course of processing by the DFG’s main office or after the DFG has made its decision.
